Mumbai: The country’s biggest businessman Mukesh Ambani has been receiving death threats from an unknown person who has been demanding ransom from him. The person, who has identified himself as Sadaf Khan, has sent three emails to Ambani’s email account in the last three days, increasing the ransom amount from Rs 20 crore to Rs 400 crore. The person has also challenged the Mumbai Police and claimed that he has the best shooters in India who can kill Ambani anytime.

The first email was sent on October 27, in which Sadaf Khan demanded Rs 20 crore from Ambani and threatened to kill him if he did not pay. The email was sent from a Belgian IP address, according to police sources. The second email came on October 28, in which the ransom amount was raised to Rs 200 crore and the person said that he did not receive any reply to his first email. The third email came on October 29, in which the ransom amount was further increased to Rs 400 crore and the person taunted the Mumbai Police for their inability to find him or arrest him. He also said that he had no problem killing Ambani, no matter how safe he was, and that his sniper could do the job.

The Mumbai Police have registered a case under sections 384 (extortion), 386 (extortion by putting a person in fear of death or grievous hurt), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code and are investigating the matter. They are trying to trace the IP address of the sender and verify his identity. They have also beefed up the security of Ambani and his family, who are already under Z Plus security cover, which is considered equal to the security of the PM and the President.
