New Delhi: The Ministry of AYUSH will organize a Global Surya Namaskar Program for 75 lakh people on the day of Makar Sankranti on January 14. The statement of the Ministry of AYUSH said that ‘Surya Namaskar’ is performed as a salutation to the sun to show gratitude towards each and every ray of the sun, as it nourishes all living beings.
The ministry said in the statement that scientifically, Surya Namaskar is known to develop immunity and improve vitality, which is important for the health of people in this pandemic situation. The human body gets vitamin D from exposure to the sun, which has been widely recognized in all medical branches around the world.
According to the statement, the purpose of the mass demonstration of Surya Namaskar is also to convey the message of climate change and global warming through it. While climate awareness is essential in today’s world, the use of solar e-energy (green energy) in daily life will significantly reduce carbon emissions, which threaten the earth.
“In addition, this event will highlight the importance of Makar Sankranti in our cultural and spiritual heritage,” the statement said. Surya Namaskar is a group of eight asanas performed in 12 steps with coordination of body and mind. It is mostly done in the morning.
