New Delhi: Air India’s non-stop flight from New York to Delhi had to make an emergency landing in London due to a medical emergency. According to the information received, the nature of the medical emergency is yet to be ascertained. According to media reports, when the plane was over Norwegian airspace, it had to land at Heathrow in London. There were a total of 350 passengers on the flight.

According to the information received, an Air India flight going from New York to Delhi was diverted to London on Monday evening due to a medical emergency. According to sources, AI-102 was to reach Indira Gandhi International Airport at around 11.25 pm, but due to an emergency, the flight landed at London’s Heathrow Airport.

According to the pilot of the aircraft, there is a possibility of a delay of at least six to seven hours for the flight to reach Delhi.

The Boeing 777 operating as AI-102 was in Norwegian aerospace when the medical emergency happened and the pilots decided to divert to nearby London to save the passenger’s life. The airline’s ground staff at Heathrow made arrangements to ensure quick medical care upon landing in London.

“There was a group of seven people traveling together. One of them took ill. When the aircraft landed in London, the indisposed passenger and two others with the passenger got off at Heathrow. The aircraft should take off for Delhi at about 5.30 pm (GMT or 11 pm IST on Monday),” an AI official said.
