London: 29-year-old Marieke Lucas from the Netherlands has become the youngest writer to win the Rijneveld International Booker Prize. This award is different from the original Booker Prize and aims to encourage more publications and reading of good novels worldwide. Rijneveld’s book ‘The Discomfort of Evening’ was declared the winner on Wednesday. It is the story of a peasant family from a staunchly Christian community in the rural Netherlands.
