Mumbai: The Meteorological Department has issued a ‘Red Alert’ for sporadic heavy rains at isolated places in Pune and Satara districts of Maharashtra on Monday. An official gave this information. He told on Sunday that in the forecast of the weather, heavy rains have also been said in Mumbai, Raigad and Palghar since Monday. Rain will start to decrease from Tuesday.
The India Meteorological Department has classified a minimum of 204.5 mm of rainfall in 24 hours as excessive rainfall. Under Red Alert, officials take precautionary measures to minimize losses. “The districts of western Maharashtra including Pune, Kolhapur, Satara and Sangli are expected to receive heavy rainfall in the week starting Monday,” the department official said. “
“Extremely heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places in Satara and Pune districts on Monday,” he said. He said that heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at some places during the week in the remaining part of the region. He also said that heavy to very heavy rains are likely in many parts of Maharashtra including North, Central and Vidarbha regions till Thursday.
