Raigad: Where the Irshalwadi village of Raigad district of Maharashtra has now been completely converted into a crematorium. Yes, in this village with a population of 248 people, due to landslides and landslides, bodies of 16 people buried under the debris have been retrieved so far, while 93 people are currently alive who were either outside at the time of the incident or somehow managed to escape from here after saving their lives. In this way, this figure became 109, that is, if the figures of the administration are to be believed, then 139 people are still missing at this place, and probably all are buried under the debris.

On the matter, NDRF had informed that, in view of heavy rains and the danger of further landslides in the dark, the rescue operation has been called off in consultation with the local administration and will be resumed tomorrow morning. So far 16 dead bodies have been recovered from here and 21 people have been rescued.

The condition of the rain is that the family members of the people who are being pulled out of the debris are not able to see their last moments and there is no arrangement to bring the dead body down. In such a situation, the dead body is being buried there. The vagaries of the weather are such that landslides happened twice in a day as well. Rescue is not possible even by helicopter due to the weather. Two helicopters were also ready here with the help of the Centre, but they could not take off.

Here, NDRF’s 5BN Inspector Rahul Kumar Raghuvansh while giving information about the rescue work said that we do three types of searches. Here we will conduct our searches with the dogs and ourselves. It is a long and challenging task, but we are trained for it. Yesterday, when we got the information, four of our teams reached the spot and immediately started the search and rescue operation.

Talking about rain, 499 mm of rain has been recorded in the last 3 days (July 17 to July 19), which is a record. So, today a ‘red’ alert has been issued in Thane, Raigarh, Pune, and Palghar. Apart from this, an ‘Orange’ alert has been issued for Mumbai and Ratnagiri. That is, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rains in these districts today i.e. on Friday.
