New Delhi: Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) will reopen in a phased manner from November 2. In the first phase, researchers and Ph.D. final year students who need access to laboratories and have to submit their theses will be allowed to come to the university, according to an official statement. JNU has been closed since last March due to the Coronavirus epidemic.

The JNU student union is demanding that the return of researchers to the campus be allowed in a phased manner. Members of the student union have been sitting on an indefinite dharna at the entrance of the university since last Saturday. A statement issued by the JNU administration said that the second phase would start from November 16. This will allow final year PhD students living in hostels. The statement said that the central library and canteens and dhabas would remain closed in both the phases.
