Ismailia: A giant cargo ship is stuck in Suez Canal, Egypt since Friday. Due to this, ‘traffic jam’ has started all around. Meanwhile, Germany’s insurance company Allianz has estimated that the blockage could cause a loss of US $ 600–1000 million. According to the report, due to Corona, the delivery of goods is already disrupted and now this blockage has increased the difficulties of European countries. On the other hand, America is also affected by it. Delivery of goods is also taking double time here. 12% of the world’s business is done through this canal. Last year, around 19 thousand ships crossed it.
The ship carrying the flag of Panama, carrying cargo between Asia and Europe, was trapped in this canal on Tuesday. Traffic trapped in the canal has been caused by the implication of this Japanese company owned ship. Due to this, dozens of small ships got trapped in the Mediterranean and Red Seas. The Suez Canal Authority has employed several boats to take out this huge ship.
Crew from India
The work of evacuating the ship is in progress. The ship is owned by Shei Kisen Kaisha, who hails from Japan. He said that the crew driving this ship has come from India. It is a matter of relief that all the crew members are safe. Two expert drivers from Egypt have also arrived on this ship, who are helping to evacuate the stranded ship.
How a ship trapped?
The incident occurred when a sand ball rose on the banks of the 120-mile-long canal due to strong winds. This waterway is narrow. The crew lost control of the ship due to strong winds and reached the sandy shore. Due to being about 400 meters long and weighing 2 thousand metric tons, the process of evacuating the ship has become more difficult.
