
Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday issued an appeal to the citizens of the state in a ‘warning tone’, saying that they do not want to close hotels and malls and people do not have to take precautions if the state has to put a lockdown is. Explain that till now a total of 26,89,922 people have been given the Covid-19 vaccine in Maharashtra. A health department official said on Saturday that 2,54,956 people were vaccinated on Friday, the highest number given in a day in the state so far. The official said, “Many vaccination centers continued to work till late Friday night, so this figure was recorded on Saturday.” The official said that out of the people who have been vaccinated so far in the state, 3,73,317 people have also been given the second dose of the vaccine while others have been given the first dose of the vaccine.
Earlier on Friday, 1,66,995 seniors were vaccinated and 31,043 people between the ages of 45 and 60 were given the vaccine. So far, 8,51,952 senior citizens and 1,50,558 others aged between 45 and 60 years have been vaccinated in the state.
The official said that so far 8,18,917 health workers have been vaccinated, of which 3,28,477 personnel have also been given the second dose of the vaccine. Similarly, vaccines have been given to 4,95,178 personnel deployed on the advance front, out of which 44,840 people have been given the second dose.
