World Telecommunication Day (WTD) is being celebrated every year on 17 May since 1969. In the year 2005, the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) decided to celebrate May 17 as World Telecommunication Day. On this day, on 17 May 1865, the International Telecommunication Union was also established. When the first International Telegraph Convention was signed in Paris.
