New Delhi: The biggest threat in the Russia-Ukraine War is at present to international cooperation in the field of space. As soon as this war started, this question started to arise, what would happen to the cooperation between Russia, America, and other countries on the International Space Station for more than two decades. From the time the crisis began, Russia had warned about the possibility and consequences of blowing up the station. But this month the head of the Russian space agency Roskosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, is indicating in his tweet that Russia stops cooperation in space. In such a situation, now NASA has told us how dangerous it really is.

A video created fear
This month, Russian news media released a video on social media in which a Russian module is seen detaching itself from the space station. To allay the apprehensions that have arisen since then, NASA itself organized a question-and-answer session, in which questions related to the ISS were answered in this matter.

NASA’s answer
Such an atmosphere was created in the year 2014 as well. NASA reminded us that the International Space Station has been operating strongly since then and there is no possibility of closure or cancellation any time soon. Rogozin’s statements have not been talked about directly in this session. But still, NASA has tried to solve any doubts.

What did NASA tell?
NASA has told which countries have what kind of role in the International Space Station. Apart from this, it has also tried to make it clear that if one country stops launch services, then how will the astronauts reach the station. Along with this, NASA also gave information about the plan to close the station.

What can separate modules
NASA stated most prominently that none of its modules can be separated from the International Space Station. This is a direct challenge to the video that RIA Novosti released in which passengers are seen easily disassembling the module. NASA says that the space station has not been designed in such a way that it can be separated from it.

Why is this work difficult?
NASA says that at present, part of America and part of Russia cannot work independently due to the interdependence of each part. Attempts to isolate the American or Russian part would lead to a number of transportation and safety issues due to the multiple internal and external connections. These connections are used to control the spacecraft’s direction and altitude as well as rely on software.

Divided work
NASA told how the work of the space station is interdependent and who provides what support. In this, Roscosmos is responsible for controlling the direction, thrusters, and propellant, while NASA has the responsibility for solar power, altitude, satellite communication, etc. While life support, campaign control is the responsibility of both.

For the last 8 years, Russia and America have been supporting each other in the matter of the International Space Station even after all kinds of tension. At the same time, the relationship between NASA and Roscosmos has also been good. Rogozin has been issuing such taunting messages on social media in the past as well. But it never happened that the cooperation of Roscosmos started ending. Apart from them, Russian and American scientists and others have had great coordination and cooperation in the matter of space.
