London: Marketa Vondrousova created history by winning her maiden Grand Slam title. He won the Wimbledon SW19 final on Saturday over Ons Jabeur. Marketa defeated the Tunisian player 6-4, 6-4. With this, she became the first unseeded player to win the coveted crown at the Czech All-England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.
The 24-year-old Vondrousova from the Czech Republic defeated last year’s runner-up and sixth seed Jabeur 6-4, 6-4 to claim her maiden Grand Slam title. Vondrousova, a left-hander, has a world ranking of 42 and became the first player in 60 years to play in the final at Wimbledon.
Vondrousova was trailing in both sets but won the first set with four straight points before winning the last three games in the second set to clinch the title. This is his first Grand Slam title. She had lost in the final of the French Open in 2019.
