Michigan: 25-year-old Vaidehi Dongre of Michigan has won the title of ‘Miss India USA 2021’. At the same time, Arshi Lalani of Georgia came second. Vaidehi did her graduation from the University of Michigan. She works as a Business Development Manager in a large company. Vaidehi said, “I want to leave a positive impact on our society and work for women’s economic independence and literacy.”
Vaidehi was also given the ‘Miss Talented’ award for her scintillating Indian classical dance form Kathak. At the same time, Lalani (20) stunned everyone with her confidence and performance and she came second. She has been suffering from a brain tumor. Meera Kasari of North Carolina finished third in the competition. The competition was held over the weekend. Miss World 1997 Diana Hayden was the chief guest and chief judge of the contest. 61 participants from 30 states participated in three different competitions ‘Miss India USA’, ‘Mrs. India USA’ and ‘Miss Teen India USA’. The winners of these three categories have also been given tickets to go to Mumbai to take part in the world competition.
Well-known Indian-American Dharmatma Saran and Neelam Saran in New York started it about 40 years ago under the banner of ‘Worldwide Pageants’. ‘Miss India USA’ is the longest-running Indian beauty pageant outside India.
