Beijing: China on Wednesday supported the demand of the Taliban, in which it has asked the US not to freeze the assets of Afghanistan. Congratulating the interim government on the acting Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, Chinese envoy Wang Yu said that the US has no right to confiscate Afghanistan’s assets. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Laijian made a statement that the US had no reason to confiscate these assets. It is the property of Afghans and the interim government of Afghanistan will take legal action to get this property.

Thrives on foreign aid
It was only after the Taliban took control of Afghanistan that the IMF and the World Bank banned all foreign aid. Not only this, but America had also frozen the assets of Afghanistan. Now the Taliban have no money to run the country. Because Afghanistan has been living on foreign financial aid for a long time. According to several reports from Kabul, Afghanistan’s economy has almost collapsed, while the United Nations has made great efforts to boost global efforts to accelerate the supply of food and essentials.

Bad condition of Taliban fighters too
At the same time, the New York Post report said that Taliban fighters present outside major cities of the country are getting very little food to eat. They sleep in trucks or somewhere on the ground. They have no house to live in and are saving their lives by any means and the Taliban do not have the money to help their fighters. The report claimed that local people are giving food and drink to Taliban fighters.

Fixed withdrawal limit
The Taliban has imposed a $200 withdrawal limit on Afghans who travel miles to visit a city and then stand in queues for hours to get cash. Many banks have been closed since the Taliban takeover and those that are open are cash-strapped.
