Oslo: The Taliban have started official talks with Western diplomats in Europe for the first time since taking power in Afghanistan in August last year. Under this, talks were held in a hotel located in Oslo, the capital of Norway. The three-day talks began on Sunday with representatives of the Taliban and civil organizations.

Afghanistan’s Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Zabiullah Mujahid tweeted a joint statement on Sunday night, “The meeting participants recognized that the only solution to all of Afghanistan’s problems is joint coordination and understanding.” All Afghans need to work for a better political, economic, and security outcome in the country. It is believed that Taliban representatives will definitely demand the release of US $ 10 billion withheld by the US and other Western countries because Afghanistan is going through a pathetic situation.

Taliban representative Shafiullah Azam said on Sunday night, “We are asking them to free Afghan property and not punish an ordinary Afghan citizen because of his political ideology.”

Ahead of the talks, Western diplomats met with women’s rights activists and human rights defenders in Afghanistan to assess the current situation, including listening to the demands of Afghan civil institutions. The meeting was attended by representatives of the European Union, America, Britain, France, Italy, and host Norway.
