Jakarta: There is news of a tragic accident from the Island of Java in Indonesia. At least 27 people aboard and 39 others were injured when a bus filled with pilgrims fell into the abyss. The reason for the accident is said to be a break in the brake technique. Police and rescuers have informed about the accident on Thursday.

Local police chief Eko Prasetiyo Robianto said that the bus was taking a group of Islamic secondary school students and their parents from the city of Subang in West Java to a pilgrimage site in the Tasikmalaya district of the province on Wednesday. He said that the driver could not control the bus in this sloping area in Sumedang district and the bus fell into a 20-meter deep moat.

Robianto said that the police is trying to find the cause of the accident, but the survivors of the accident say that the brakes of the vehicle were damaged. Bandung search and rescue agency chief Deedan Ridwansah said the bodies and 39 injured of the 27 dead have been taken to a hospital and a nearby health center. According to media reports, he told that such accidents happen due to poor infrastructure and better security arrangements.
