Kabul: At least three Taliban sources in Afghanistan said Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the head of the Taliban’s political office, would lead the new government in Afghanistan. According to the news of Al-Arabiya News quoting Taliban sources, Mullah Baradar has received the command of the new government of Afghanistan.

Sources said Mullah Mohammad Yacoub, sons of late Taliban founder Mullah Omar, and Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanikzai will also hold senior positions in the government. Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, one of the co-founders of the Taliban, was captured by security forces in the southern Pakistani city of Karachi in 2010 and released in 2018.
