Karachi: The Government of Pakistan has asked the country’s banks to immediately ban online payments for the content of electronic media in India. This has been said in the news that came in the media on Friday. The decision was taken by the cabinet on November 9, according to the Dawn newspaper.

Bank officials have also been asked to submit a compliance report to the country’s central bank, State Bank of Pakistan, by November 13, the report said. A circular said, “We have received a letter from the Cabinet Division of the Government of Pakistan instructing Pakistan to stop payment through various online channels, including credit cards, for the payment of Indian content including G5 video on demand Is gone. ”

Absar Alam, former chairman of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority, said Indian content had already been banned in Pakistan, so the new circular would affect online payments for Direct to Home (DTH) services. He said that most of the people taking DTH services watch Indian programs and pay online.

Consumers can no longer pay directly from Pakistan, but Indian service providers can receive payments from other countries such as the United Arab Emirates. According to the report, sources in the entertainment sector said that they had strong fears that online payments would be banned after a serial was aired on an Indian channel.

The serial was banned by the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority after a dispute arose over it. Indian Channel G5 is very popular in Pakistan. The Pakistan-made content is being aired on its streaming service, which mainly includes two serials “Witches” and “A False Love Story”.
