New Delhi: According to news, the President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has passed away. UAE’s official news agency WAM has confirmed this. He was also the ruler of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. President Zayed Al Nahyan had been ill for several days. He breathed his last at the age of 73.
The government of the UAE has declared 40 days of national mourning on the death of Zayed Al Nahyan. The report said that flags in the country will be flown at half-mast. Apart from this, there will be a holiday for three days in all private and government sectors of the country. The announcement of national mourning has been given by Dubai Media Office.
An important role in the development of the country
According to media reports, Sheikh Khalifa was born in 1948. He came to power in 2004 and has been holding the presidency since then. His father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan was the President before him. He was the head of the country from 1971 to November 2004. Sheikh Khalifa was the second President of the UAE and the 16th Ruler of Abu Dhabi. He was the eldest son of Sheikh Zayed. He had focused more on the development of the country during his tenure. At the same time, Sheikh Khalifa was instrumental in reorganizing the administration of the UAE and Abu Dhabi and implemented a number of reforms.
It is noteworthy that Sheikh Khalifa Zayed Al Nahyan has been instrumental in advancing the UAE’s gas and oil sector. Apart from all this, other industries also developed equally during his reign. Sheikh Khalifa played an important role in the development of the northern regions of the UAE, which were slightly backward compared to the rest of the region.
