Cape Canaveral: For the first time in twenty years, a Russian cosmonaut on Wednesday flew from the US to the International Space Station. The Russian cosmonaut left for the International Space Station with astronauts from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and Japan, despite strained relations between the two countries over the Ukraine crisis.

The flight of his Space-X company rocket was postponed due to Hurricane ‘Ian’ in the US state of Florida. “I hope that with this launch we will light up the skies of Florida a little bit for everyone,” said astronaut Koichi Wakata of Japan’s space agency.

Koichi Wakata accompanied by US Navy Colonel Nicole Mann, Captain Josh Kasada and Russia’s only female astronaut Anna Kikina left for the International Space Station. Their mission will last for five months. All the astronauts will reach their destination on Thursday.

It is worth noting that American astronaut Frank Rubio flew to space from Kazakhstan two weeks ago on a Soyuz rocket, instead, Anna Kikina flew to space from America.
