Islamabad: Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov arrived in Pakistan for the first time in the last few days after a long nine-year hiatus, where he delivered a ‘significant’ message to Pakistani leaders on behalf of the Russian President Vladimir Putin. In this message, Lavrov said that Russia is ready to provide all help according to Pakistan’s needs. Not only this, Russia wants to invest 8 billion dollars in Pakistan. This growing friendship between Russia and Pakistan may increase India’s tension.

The Pakistan newspaper Express Tribune has claimed this by quoting an official present at a meeting between Lavrov and Pakistani leaders. The official said that Lavrov said during the meeting, “I have come with a message from President Putin that we are ready to do all the help that Pakistan needs.” The Pakistani official said that in other words, Lavrov’s words, the Russian President has offered us open aid.

Putin ready to help Pakistan
The Pakistani official claimed that Putin is willing to help Pakistan in every way. The official quoted Lavrov as saying, “If you are keen on a gas pipeline, corridor, defense or any other cooperation, Russia is standing by it.” Russia and Pakistan are already cooperating on the North-South gas pipeline. Russia intends to invest 8 billion dollars in total in Pakistan.

Russia ready to give special military assistance
When asked about the possibilities of buying a Russian air defense system, the Pakistani official said that Russia wants to increase cooperation with Pakistan in this area. Earlier, the Russian Foreign Minister had said that Russia is ready to give special military assistance to Pakistan to increase its capability against terrorists. To reduce the influence of India, Pakistan has been putting a lot of pressure on Russia for a long time. Russia is also taking the help of Pakistan in solving the Afghan crisis. The growing friendship of Russia-Pakistan can increase India’s difficulty, which is largely dependent on Russian weapons.
