Protest against Netanyahu amid lockdown in Israel

Jerusalem: Thousands of people demonstrated in Israel over the weekend against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Israel. Protesters have long accused the prime minister-in-chief of Netanyahu of corruption and said he was not properly dealing with the Coronavirus Lockdown and demanded the Prime Minister’s resignation.

The demonstrations took place on Saturday at a chowk near the Prime Minister’s official residence and at a time when the country is in the third phase of lockdown. A hearing against Netanyahu is scheduled to begin this week but has been postponed indefinitely due to stringent sanctions in the country. Netanyahu is accused of taking bribes, cheating, and betrayal. The Prime Minister, however, denied doing anything wrong, saying that he has been targeted by the media, law enforcement and judicial authorities. The protesters say that Netanyahu cannot lead the country properly in view of these allegations.
