Rome: Pope Francis got a fever after three intestinal surgery, but his regular test reports have come out fine. The Vatican’s daily update reported on Thursday that the Pope is eating and drinking and is also walking without any help. He also sent his best wishes to the young cancer patients of Rome’s Gemelli Hospital.

Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni said Pope Francis had a brief “fever” on Wednesday evening. “He had routine and bacteriological tests this morning and a chest and abdominal scan which came back negative,” the statement said.

The Vatican said Francis, 84, had bowel surgery on Sunday that lasted three hours. He was suffering from the problem of contraction in the intestines. He is recovering after the surgery and is likely to remain at the Gemelli Polyclinic in Rome this week.
