Wellington: Thousands of people protested through a motorcycle rally in front of the Parliament of New Zealand on Tuesday to protest against the vaccine mandate and lockdown. Security of Parliament has been increased in view of the protest. Although it was a peaceful demonstration, the protesters were raising slogans of freedom with the banner of ‘No More Lockdown’ in their hands. The protesters are demanding that they want an open and free environment in the year 2018. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said that the lockdown of the country’s largest city Auckland is likely to end at the end of this month. Also, some relaxation has been given in the coronavirus restrictions from today.

Auckland has been in lockdown for almost three months after the outbreak of the Delta variant of Corona. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern is scheduled to visit Auckland on Wednesday and it is feared that she may face more protests there. In New Zealand, about 150 new cases of the Delta variant are being reported every day in the last week and The total number of patients has crossed 4,500.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said on Monday that improving the city’s vaccination rate among people 12 years of age and older means that gradual reductions in the lockdown may continue. Statistics show that New Zealand has the least number of vaccines so far in the world.
