Pakistan wants long-term relationship with US: Army Chief Bajwa

Islamabad: Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa said on Friday that Islamabad wants a long-term and multi-faceted relationship with the US. Bajwa met the US Ambassador to Pakistan and discussed issues of mutual interest and the security situation in Afghanistan.

The Army said that the US Embassy in charge in Pakistan, Angela Egeler, met Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Bajwa at the Army Headquarters in Rawalpindi. During the meeting, matters of mutual interest to the two countries, the current security situation in Afghanistan, and bilateral cooperation in various fields were discussed during the meeting, the statement said.

“The Army Chief stated that Pakistan seeks to maintain a long-term and multifaceted durable relationship with the United States,” the statement said. Bajwa also said that Pakistan remains committed to the Afghan peace process and will continue to work with all stakeholders for a peaceful solution.
