New York: Former US President Barack Obama’s book ‘A Promised Land’ sold 890,000 copies in the first 24 hours in the US and Canada, making it the best-selling presidential memoir in modern history. “It shows the widespread enthusiasm that readers had for (former) President Obama’s much-awaited book,” he said. ‘A Promised Land’ currently tops Amazon and Barnes & Noble (dot com) – James Don’t, CEO of Barnes & Noble, said that it sold over 50,000 copies on the first day and 10 in 10 days. Millions of copies are expected to be sold. Obama’s 768-page memoir costs $45. In his book, A Promised Land, Obama details his journey from the 2008 election campaign to the campaign to assassinate al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden in Abbottabad (Pakistan) at the end of his first term as president. The book has two parts, the first of which was released worldwide on Tuesday.
