New York: The government has passed a new law in view of the increasing incidents of shootings in America, USA. New York Governor Kathy Hochul signed a new law on June 7 that will no longer allow people under the age of 21 to buy semi-automatic rifles in the province. New York has become the first province in America to take such a drastic and big step to prevent incidents of shootings. This is expected to reduce the incidents of firing.

Meanwhile, Hochul signed 10 public safety bills, one of which would require ‘microstamping’ on new firearms. He expressed hope that with the implementation of this law, gun crimes are sure to come down. Under another amended law, the court has been empowered to temporarily take possession of guns from persons who may be a danger to themselves or others.

Hochul said at a news conference in the Bronx, “In New York, we are taking strong measures.” We are tightening the laws so that guns can be kept away from dangerous people. The New York Legislature passed these bills last week.

Significantly, on May 14, 10 black people were killed in a racist attack at a Buffalo supermarket. At the same time, on May 24, 10 days after this incident, 19 children and two teachers were killed in a shooting at a Texas school.
