Kathmandu: Nepal is the third country in South Asia after India and Afghanistan to provide international and telecommunication services to passengers in Nepal’s airspace. Airlines (International Airlines) are allowed. The decision was taken by the autonomous telecommunications regulatory body Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) in association with the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal after the meeting of the Directors of the Telecom Authority Board on 22 March.

According to the decision, a company desirous of providing services to passengers can use the frequency at an altitude of more than 10,000 feet above the surface.

NTA spokesperson Santosh Paudel said that the airline, which received permission from the International Civil Aviation Organization, would be allowed to access Internet and telecommunications services in Nepal’s airspace at an altitude of more than ten thousand feet. He said that the internet services on the land will be disrupted across the country due to the approval of use of internet service at altitude of less than ten thousand feet.
