Nepal closes 22 Indian border centers amid rising Corona cases

Kathmandu: The Government of Nepal has decided to close 22 of its border centers in India amid a huge increase in Covid-19 cases in India. According to officials, the Covid Crisis Management Coordination Committee (CCMC) on Friday recommended the Council of Ministers to close 22 out of 35 border centers between Nepal and India, after which the decision has been taken.

Only 13 border centers will now operate between Nepal and India. This decision has been taken in view of the sharp increase in the cases of Covid-19 in the neighboring country of India. There have been more than four lakh cases of infection in a single day in India, while the total number of dead has increased to 2,11,853 after the death of 3,523 more patients. This information has been given in the data released by the Union Ministry of Health on Saturday.

The total number of infected people has increased to 1,91,64,969 after 4,01,993 new cases of infection were reported in India according to the updated data till eight o’clock on Saturday morning. The number of under-treated patients has increased to more than 32 lakhs. So far, 3,23,187 cases of Covid-19 have been reported in Nepal. 3,279 patients have died. Infection cases are not growing as fast. Five thousand new cases of infection have been reported in the country on Thursday and Friday.
