How coronavirus damages lungs

Boston: Scientists have so far drawn a comprehensive blueprint for research on molecular activities occurring within thousands of lung cells at the onset of viral infections that may help develop new drugs to combat Covid-19 (Coronavirus).

Several scientists, including Boston University of the United States, in their analysis found that 18 existing drugs approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (ADA) can be used against Kovid-19. He said that five of these drugs can reduce the spread of corona virus in human lung cells by up to 90 percent.

This is how the research was done
This research has been published in a journal called “Molecular Cell”. Scientists involved in this research simultaneously infected thousands of cells of human blisters developed in the laboratory and observed their activities. He said that these cells are not exactly the same as the cells of the body but resemble them.

How coronavirus damages lungs

Virus scientist and research co-author Elke Mühlberger at Boston University said the researchers monitored the virus one hour after infecting lung cells. He said that it was quite scary to see that at the beginning of the infection, the virus started damaging the cells.

Bearing in 3-6 hours
The virus cannot make copies, so it makes copies of its genetic material through the mechanisms of cells. Scientists in research found that when SARS-COV-2 infection occurs, it completely changes the metabolic process of the cell. The virus also damages the cell’s molecular membrane within three to six hours of infection.

Mühlberger said that in contrast, cells infected with the deadly Ebola virus showed no structural changes in the beginning. He said that at the same time, the molecular membrane (membrane) was safe in the later stage of infection.
