Fukushima-like tragedy in Brazil, Corona’s new strain unfolding every week: Expert

Brasilia: Brazil’s top health experts have warned that Brazil, like Japan, is facing a biological Fukushima tragedy, with a new strain of the coronavirus coming out every week. A day-long record of deaths in Brazil was broken on Tuesday and 4,195 people lost their lives. It is estimated that by the month of July only six lakh people will die in the country. Miguel Nicolais, who led the team fighting the Coronavirus in the northeastern region of the country until February, said Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro is facing the biggest humanitarian tragedy in the country’s history. ‘It is like a nuclear reactor in which a chain reaction has started and it is out of control. It is like a biological Fukushima tragedy.

Miguel was referring to the accident in the Japanese nuclear reactor after the horrific tsunami in 2011. He said that I understand that Brazil is not only the epicenter of this epidemic worldwide, it is a threat to the efforts of the international community to control the epidemic on the whole earth. The health expert said that if the corona virus is not controlled in Brazil, it cannot be controlled on the whole earth.

The health expert said, ‘We are seeing a new strain every week, some of which are more contagious and more deadly than before. Some of them can cross the border and spread to other countries of Latin America and from there to the whole world. Let us know that the number of Covid-19 cases in the world has exceeded 13.22 crore. At the same time, the death toll has crossed 28.7 lakhs. According to the latest data, the number of cases in the world has now gone up to 13,22,93,566 and the number of deaths to 28,71,642.
