Karachi: Four people, including two women and a minor, were killed and eight others injured when a fire broke out in a three-story building located in Karachi city of Pakistan. According to Pakistani newspaper Dawn, the incident took place in the city’s Hijrat Colony.

According to the newspaper, the rescue personnel and police rushed to the spot as soon as the incident was reported, but due to the narrow streets, they faced trouble in the relief work. However, after two hours of effort, rescue workers managed to extinguish the fire. According to the statement issued by the Civil Lines Police, four people died and eight others were injured in the fire. According to the statement, the injured have been rushed to the civil hospital.

Police said that smoke during rescue work deteriorated the health of a policeman, who has been admitted to Jinnah Masters Medical Center (JPMC). Deputy Commissioner South Irshad Ali Sodhar said that according to the FIR investigation, the cause of the fire seems to be a short circuit. He said that there have been deaths due to suffocation due to smoke.
