Dhaka (Bangladesh): Three patients of Covid-19 died in a fire at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) intensive care unit here on Wednesday. “The fire broke out at around 8 am in the Covid-19 dedicated ICU center on the third floor of the DMCH’s new building,” Zia Rahman from the Fire and Civil Defense (FS&CD) headquarters told the Dhaka Tribune.

Qazi Golam Mustafa (63), Abdullah Al Mahmood (48) and Kishore Chandra Roy (68) were on ventilator killed in the accident. “After receiving the information, five fire engines were sent to the spot and the fire was kept under control,” he said. The fire caused smoke to spread within the premises. We had to break the windows to save the patients. ICU patients were evacuated safely. ”

He said that when this accident happened, there were 14 patients in the ICU. DMHC Director, MD Najmul Haq said that the patients were evacuated and taken to the wards of the adjacent building. He said, “Three patients died in the accident.”
