Serial blasts in Afghanistan

Peshawar: Five people were killed and another was injured in an explosion on Tuesday in a junk of junk in northwest Pakistan. This information was given by the police. District police officer Najmul Hasan said the incident occurred when an employee was attempting to break a mortar.

He said that the nearby shops were also damaged due to the blast and the police is trying to find out who sold the said mortar or how the said mortar reached to this iron scrap man.

Hasan said that the police is also trying to find out whether there is any other unburnt shell in Nowshera district. Nowshera district is a district in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province bordering Afghanistan.

The North West region of Pakistan is an area where military operations against terrorists have been conducted in recent years. Mortar and landmines of the Soviet Union time are still found in the North West regions causing accidents.
