7-minute injection for cancer treatment

New Delhi: England is going to introduce a unique method for cancer treatment, which will involve a single injection of only 7 minutes. This will save time and reduce the hassle of finding veins for drip.

The injection has been approved by the British Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). According to NHS England, it will offer the injection to hundreds of patients in England who are undergoing immunotherapy with atezolizumab. Atezolizumab, also known as Tecentriq, is a monoclonal antibody that boosts the immune system’s ability to fight cancer. It will be given under the skin instead of into the vein.

Marius Scholtz, Medical Director of Roche Products Limited, the company that produces the medicine, said that the injection will take only 7 minutes, compared to 30 to 60 minutes for drip. This will make the treatment more convenient and comfortable for the patients.
