Damascus: Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s blood pressure suddenly dropped during a speech in Parliament, forcing him to stop his speech for a while. As blood pressure dropped, Assad stopped his speech and told MPs that he needed to “sit for two moments”. Asad (54) was giving a speech in Parliament for about half an hour, but then he suddenly started to look restless. He interrupted the speech and drank water twice. He was talking about US sanctions and economic crisis imposed on Syria, when suddenly he said, “My blood pressure has dropped and I need to drink water.” He said for a while, “If you guys don’t mind, I need to sit for a few minutes.” He then walked out of the chamber.

How long he remained outside is not known, but after returning, he said, “Doctors are the worst patients.” Assad is a trained eye doctor. He said, “I hadn’t eaten anything since yesterday afternoon.” There was no sugar or salt in my body and that was why. ”
