Church attack in France

Paris: Following the murder of a teacher by cutting his throat in France in the Prophet cartoon controversy, another similar murder case has now come to light. In a church in France, an attacker slit the throat of a woman and brutally stabbed two others to death. The incident took place in the French city of Nice. The mayor of the city has termed this horrific incident as terrorism.

Mayor Christian Estorsi said the knife attack took place at the city’s Notre Dame Church. Police have arrested the attacker. Three people have been confirmed dead, police said. Many others have been injured. A police source said that the woman’s throat has been cut. A French leader has also confirmed that the woman’s throat has been cut.

The church is surrounded
France’s counterterrorism department said it had been tasked with investigating the attack. Journalists at the scene say armed men have surrounded the church. Ambulance and fire service vehicles are present on the spot. The attack comes just days after a French teacher was assassinated while showing a cartoon of the Prophet. It is not immediately clear what the motive was for the knife attack on the church and the motive behind the killings. Earlier, a teacher was strangled to death in France after a cartoon of the Prophet was shown. Following this incident, French President Emmanuel Macron has strongly supported freedom of expression and the right to ridicule religion. However, since then he has been criticized by Muslim countries.
