Beijing: The horrors of Chinese atrocities are increasing every day in the Xinjiang Uygar Autonomous Region (XUAR) in the northwest of China. In response, China is constantly changing its statements about the mass detention of the Uyghurs. Organizations like the United Nations estimate that at least one million Muslims have been placed in convention camps. Regarding these camps, China says that these are all ‘vocational training centers’. The number of people housed in camps is equal to 10 percent of the adult Muslim population.

Beijing is now feeling Western pressure on human rights abuses. China is using its full power to refute the accusations and ignore the criticisms. In January this year, the US accused China of genocide, after which other diplomatic pressures also started.

What did President Xi Jinping claim?
Last year, Chinese President Xi Jinping said in gestures that all ethnic groups living in the western region of Xinjiang are undergoing continuous development. He has also said that the government will continue to teach the people of this area the right education. In Xinjiang, there have been reports of keeping up to eight million Uyghur Muslims in detention camps in the name of educating and civilizing them in inhuman ways. In China, many news reports of breaking mosques and making toilets have also come to light.
The Chinese Communist Party was hiding these concentration camps for the first year and a half. However, even after the news came out, its attitude did not change and China rejected the existence of any such camp. When the evidence against these camps started coming, China changed its tone once again. When the evidence came out, China called the camps training center. He claimed that he is training to give jobs to backward Uyghur people.

How did reports come about abuse
Even if China’s claims are to be believed, if Uyghur allegedly voluntarily participated in these vocational training schools, how come there were so many reports of atrocities and abuses?

March 2019, Xinjiang government president Shohrat Zakir said, ‘Generally, we will have fewer people at these centers in the times to come. And when one day the society does not need them, then these training centers will gradually be finished. However, Zakir’s comment is also surrounded by many questions. If ‘vocational training centers’ are doing a great job in educating the Uyghur, why would they be closed?

After criticism and pressure, China claims that these camps were temporary. It is believed that after all the reports and pressure, China may have hidden many camps, but there is no hope that all the camps will be closed. China is threatening its citizens through these camps.
