Beijing: China’s Chang E5 spacecraft has successfully completed the collection of samples from the surface of the moon and is now ready to land. The Chinese government gave this information on Thursday. The Chang E5 is China’s third spacecraft to reach the moon’s surface. This is the latest in a series of China’s ambitious space programs. China is also sending robot rovers to Mars. ‘Chang E5’ arrived on Tuesday to take samples of rocks from the moon’s surface.

If successful, Chang E5 will be the first successful mission to bring samples from the lunar surface since 1976. “The spacecraft has successfully completed the collection of samples from the lunar surface and all the samples have been collected in the spacecraft,” the China National Space Administration said in a statement. The spacecraft will take these samples to the lunar orbit, from where the process of sending them to Earth via a ‘capsule’ will begin.
