Washington: Amy Coney Barrett took the first of two oaths to officially assume the position of Supreme Court Judge in the Supreme Court. Justice Clarence Thomas (Amy Connie Barrett) administered the constitutional oath to Barrett at a White House ceremony.

Earlier, the Senate voted 52 to 48 to confirm Barrett’s appointment to the Supreme Court. The post fell vacant following the death in September of Judge Ruth Bader Ginsberg. Chief Justice John Roberts will administer the second oath to former federal appeals court judge Barrett in a private ceremony in court on Tuesday, called the Judicial Oath.
