Colombo: There has been an economic and political crisis in Sri Lanka for the last 3 months. Meanwhile, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has officially announced his resignation. He has informed PM Ranil Wickremesinghe about this. According to the Prime Minister’s Office of Sri Lanka, the President has said that he will resign according to his announcement.

On the other hand, after the formation of the all-party government in Sri Lanka, the ministers of the Wickremesinghe government will also resign. Along with him, all the cabinet ministers are also going to leave their posts. Sri Lankan PM Ranil Wickremesinghe held discussions with cabinet ministers this morning. All the ministers who participated in the meeting were of the opinion that as soon as there is an agreement to form an all-party government, they are ready to hand over their responsibility to that government. At the same time, the protesters have made it clear that they will not vacate the Rashtrapati Bhavan until President Gotabaya resigns.

The protesters completely cleared the ground and collected the garbage, packed it in bags, and threw it. He said- ‘We had spread this mess, so it is our responsibility to clean it too. This is a public area. We are fighting to change the system here.

The protesters say that the police carried out the incident of arson. However, the police have denied this. The President of Sri Lanka can become a speaker for a month
After the public occupation of Rashtrapati Bhavan, the pressure increased, then Prime Minister Wickremesinghe resigned from the post. He gave this information on social media. Before the resignation, the PM had called an emergency meeting, in which it was proposed to make Assembly Speaker Mahinda Yappa Abhaywardene interim President. According to the Sri Lankan constitution, if the president resigns, the speaker can become the interim president for one month.
