During the last 24 hours, 254 Taliban militants have been killed and 97 injured after operations in Ghazni, Kandahar, Herat, Farah, Jozjan, Balkh, Samgan, Helmand, Takhar, Kunduz, Baglan, Kabul, and Kapisa provinces. After capturing large parts of rural areas, the Taliban are said to have surrounded the provincial capitals. Last night they fired three rockets at the airport in Kandahar, Afghanistan’s second-largest city and former rebel stronghold.

It has been decided to launch ‘joint action’ in the war-torn country. The Foreign Ministry of China gave this information. The decision was taken during a meeting between Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in China’s southwestern city of Chengdu.
