Kabul: A roadside bomb blast in Afghanistan’s Bamiyan province on Tuesday killed at least 14 people, including a traffic policeman, and injured 45 others. The incident comes as government negotiators and Taliban representatives are negotiating to end the decades-long war. A bomb blast near the northern city of Bamiyan has injured at least 45 people, Interior Ministry spokesman Tariq Arian said. The blast damaged several shops and vehicles.

Mohammed Reza Yousefi, a spokesman for the Bamiyan province’s police chief, said there had been two consecutive blasts. No terrorist organization has claimed responsibility for the attack. Taliban spokesman Jabiullah Mujahid said his group was not involved in the incident. The organization affiliated with the Islamic State (IS) has declared war on the country’s minority Shia Muslims and Bamiyan has a predominantly Shia population. The IS-linked group has claimed responsibility for recent attacks in Afghanistan. In the last few days, 50 people were killed in an attack on an educational institution. Most of them were students. The United States has blamed an IS-linked group for an attack on a women’s hospital earlier this year that killed 24 mothers and their children.
