Washington: Facebook and Instagram in the US have started removing posts that offer women abortion pills. A decision by the US Supreme Court could end women’s uncontrolled access to abortion pills. This decision of the court has taken away the constitutional right given to women in the matter of abortion.

According to a news agency AP news, the purpose of such social media posts was to help women living in states where laws banning abortion came into force suddenly on Friday. Significantly, the US Supreme Court overturned a decision of its own in 1973 in the case of Roe v. Wade, in which access to abortion was declared a constitutional right. These memes and status update on social media in the US show how women can legally obtain abortion pills through the mail. Some of these even offered to mail prescriptions to women living in these states.

However, almost immediately after the Supreme Court’s decision, Facebook and Instagram started removing some of these posts. According to an analysis by media intelligence firm Jignal Labs, posts containing general mention of abortion pills and mentioning specific versions like mifepristone and misoprostol (the medical name for the abortion pill) suddenly increased on Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, and TV broadcasts on Friday morning. Went. Jignal recorded over 250,000 such cases till Sunday. For some time in the US, fears were being expressed that the Supreme Court might reverse its landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade decision. Due to this the constitutional right of abortion given to women can be ended.
