New Delhi: The general public is troubled by the price inflation in the Corona period. From gas cylinders to petrol and diesel, prices of all are on a rise. Inflation based on wholesale prices (WPI Inflation) reached an all-time high of 10.49 percent in April due to rising prices of crude oil and manufactured goods. This information has been provided by the data released by the government. At the same time, WPI inflation was 7.39 percent in March 2021 and negative 1.57 percent in April 2020.
Inflation based on the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) has risen for the fourth consecutive month. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry said, “In April 2021 (as compared to April 2020) the annual rate of inflation based on monthly WPI was 10.49 percent.”
Ministry gave information
The ministry said, “The annual rate of inflation in April 2021 is higher than the same month of last year mainly due to the increase in the prices of mineral oils and manufactured products like crude oil, petrol, and diesel.”
Egg-meat prices rise
During this period, inflation in food articles stood at 4.92 percent due to the steep increase in the prices of protein-rich food products such as eggs, meat, and fish. However, the prices of vegetables have decreased by 9.03 percent. On the other hand, egg, meat, and fish prices rose by 10.88 percent.
Pulses also become expensive
Inflation in pulses was 10.74 percent in April, while in fruits it was 27.43 percent. Similarly, fuel and power inflation stood at 20.94 percent in April, compared to 9.01 percent in manufactured products.
