New Delhi: People counting the dates waiting for the monsoon may have to face disappointment. In fact, meteorologists had earlier predicted that this time the monsoon will come to India before time, but now it is being said that the monsoon seems to be missing even before the arrival of India. IMD had predicted that the monsoon could reach Kerala on May 27. While talking to TOI, Skymet Weather Services President GP Sharma said that the monsoon may start in Kerala around the estimated date of this year. After this, the speed of the monsoon is likely to remain slow for a few days. At the same time, an IMD official said that the weather model shows that the monsoon may take some time to reach the southwest of the Bay of Bengal.

Generally, the onset of monsoon over Kerala and the southwest Bay of Bengal occurs simultaneously. According to GP Sharma, President, Skymet Weather Services, there was heavy rain in some parts of South Peninsular India last week. However, this speed cannot last very long. The monsoon has to slow down after a sharp surge. “We still expect the onset of monsoon in Kerala around the estimated date of this month,” he said. But as the monsoon progresses after Kerala, its pace will slow down.

At the same time, according to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of strong winds in Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Bengal during the next 3 days. Along with this, the rain will also continue in some areas. Meanwhile, the good news is that now the rains have weakened a bit in the North-East. But in Bengal and Sikkim, there may be heavy rain in some places during the next 5 days.

According to Skymet Weather, there is a possibility of strong winds over the northeast Arabian Sea, northern parts of Gujarat, southwest, and Bay of Bengal. The wind speed in these areas can remain between 40 to 50 kmph. On the other hand, light to moderate rain may occur over Lakshadweep along with Kerala, South Interior Karnataka, and Andaman and the Nicobar Islands.
