Unnao: A horrifying road accident unfolded on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, early Wednesday morning. A double-decker sleeper bus, en route from Shivgarh in Bihar to Delhi, collided with a milk tanker, resulting in a devastating crash. Here are the key details:

  1. Fatal Impact: The collision was so severe that the bus tore through the container, splitting it into two parts. Tragically, 18 lives were lost in the accident. Among the victims were 14 men, three women, and a child.
  2. Injured Passengers: More than 15 people sustained injuries in the crash. These survivors were rushed to CHC Bangarmau for medical treatment. Thankfully, their condition is reported to be stable.
  3. Blink of an Eye: The incident occurred between 4 and 5 a.m. near the Behta Mujawar area of the Unnao police station. The bus, carrying passengers from Sitamarhi, Bihar, to Delhi, collided with the milk tanker. Eyewitnesses describe the accident as happening in the blink of an eye.
  4. Driver Fatigue: Preliminary investigations suggest that the bus driver dozed off at the wheel. The high-speed bus rammed into the slower-moving milk container, causing a catastrophic collision.
  5. Immediate Response: The police team from Behta Mujawar police station swiftly reached the scene, extracting the injured passengers and arranging for their treatment. Top police and administration officials also arrived promptly.
  6. CM’s Response: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences and grief for the deceased. He has instructed senior officials to take necessary action and ensure support for the affected families.
