New Delhi: Toyota Kirloskar Motor on Friday announced that it has increased the prices of its two models, the Urban Cruiser and the Glanza. The increased price will be applicable from May 1. However, the company has not told how much the price has been increased on these cars.

Both the Toyota Urban Cruiser and Glanza come as part of the brand’s association with Suzuki globally. The Urban Cruiser and Glanza are rebadged versions of the Maruti Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza compact SUV and premium hatchback Baleno.

Toyota has taken the decision to increase the price at a time when it has recently said that it has achieved a new milestone by selling 2 million cars in India. The automaker on Thursday announced that the Glanza is the 2 millionth model of the brand to be sold in India.

The company gave this clarification
The company claims that the hike is needed to partially offset the increase in input costs due to rising raw material costs. “The overall price hike has been curtailed keeping in view the impact on our valued customers,” the automaker said.

These companies also increased the price
Toyota is not the only car company in India, which has announced a hike in the prices of its cars in the recent past. Several other car brands have also announced hikes in prices for their vehicles due to rising raw material costs and supply chain disruptions. Earlier this year, several automakers such as Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki, Toyota, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz announced price hikes across their model lineups.
