Mumbai: The vehicle, which was found parked with explosives on Thursday, was stolen last week near the residence of industrialist Mukesh Ambani. He said that a suspicious vehicle was found standing on Thursday evening near Antilia, the residence of Reliance Industries, Ambani’s residence. Gelatin sticks were kept in it.

Police said the vehicle’s number plate was also similar to an SUV covered in Ambani’s security. A police officer said that the owner of the vehicle had lodged a complaint with the police about his Scorpio (sports utility vehicle) being stolen.

The officer said: “Hiren Mansukh, the owner of the vehicle, saw on TV that the vehicle found near Ambani’s house looked like his SUV, after which he went to the Police Commissioner’s office in South Mumbai this afternoon.” “His (Mansukh’s) statement will be recorded by the Crime Intelligence Unit of Mumbai Crime Branch,” he said.

Mansukh, who lives in Thane, later told reporters that he had parked his vehicle near the Airoli Muland bridge on February 17 when the steering jammed. At that time, he was going to attend a family event. He told, “The next day, when I went to get my vehicle, it did not show there. After this I searched for about four hours. I feared it to be stolen, after which I lodged a complaint with the Vikhroli police station. ”

A suspicious vehicle was found parked on Thursday evening near Antilia, Ambani’s residence, Chairman of Reliance Industries. Gelatin sticks were kept in it. The number plate of the vehicle was also found to be fake. “A letter recovered from the car is allegedly addressed to Ambani, his wife and his family,” said a police officer.

The letter is in the Hindi language, but it is written in Roman script. “It is just a glimpse, but next time the stuff (explosive) will be fully ready,” the letter said. The letter was placed in a blue bag just next to the driver’s seat, while the gelatin sticks were kept in a packet by the name of its manufacturer, ‘Solar Industries, Nagpur’.

A bag printed ‘Mumbai Indians’ was also found from the car. At the same time, Satyanarayan Nuwal, owner of Solar Industries of Nagpur, said in a statement on Friday that he received a call from the Mumbai Police about receiving the packet. The statement said that under the Explosion Rules, 2008, all the data of production and sale of explosives by the company has been submitted to the Explosion Department and the police.

The statement also said that explosives (gelatin sticks) produced by him cannot be detonated without a detonator. A Mumbai Police spokesman said that an FIR has been lodged against unknown people at Gamdevi police station. He said that apart from various sections of the Indian Penal Code, the relevant sections of the Explosive Substances Act, 1908 have also been included in the FIR.

Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh tweeted, “20 sticks of gelatin have been found in a Scorpio van near the residence of industrialist Mukesh Ambani in Mumbai.” The crime branch of Mumbai Police is investigating the case and the results of the investigation will be revealed soon. ”
