New Delhi: The Congress party may soon get a full-time president. Preparations have been started for this. The third meeting of the Central Election Authority Committee of the Congress party, chaired by senior Congress leader Madhusudan Mistry, was held on Tuesday at the party headquarters in Delhi. The meeting reviewed the ongoing preparations for finalizing the Voters List for the party’s organizational elections. After the meeting, Madhusudan Mistry said, “The entire process of finalizing the voter list will be completed in the next 20-25 days. After finalizing the list, it will be sent to the Congress President and the CWC.”

According to the constitution of the Congress party, after the process of finalizing the voter list is completed, the committee will send a note to the Congress president and the CWC with all the details. The Congress President will then convene a meeting of the CWC, in which a decision will be taken to hold organizational elections. Let me tell you that at the moment Sonia Gandhi as the interim president takes many big decisions. The Central Election Authority Committee needs at least 26 days for the entire election process. The CWC will decide when the election is to be held and the CEA will then send the proposal of the election program to the CWC and once it decides to hold the election, the CEA will announce the full schedule.

The Congress CWC has 23 members, 12 are elected members and 11 are nominated by the Congress President. Six of the elected members of the CWC are from the general category, four women and two seats are reserved for the SC / ST and OBC communities.

AICC has a total of 1500 members
According to the party constitution, any candidate needs a proposal of at least 10 members of AICC to contest. Let me tell you that AICC has a total of 1500 members. This is what Congress presidents and CWC members vote for. In view of Corona, the Central Election Authority has sent a proposal for digital identity cards to all voters. However, the election will be held through ballot paper only.

The demand for organizational elections has been rising in the Congress for the past few days. Veteran Congress leaders like Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad are demanding elections at every level in the party. Given this, this election will be very important. After the internal stalemate of the Congress, many questions are echoing in Fiza, 24, Akbar Road. Will Rahul Gandhi file nomination for the post of President? There will be more than one nomination for the post of Chairman?
If we look at the history of the Congress party, the last election for the CWC was held in the year 1997 and the election for the post of President was held in the year 2000. Since then the CWC has been nominated by the Congress President.
